Story

(I wrote this song after having a dream about my Welsh grandfather, my father's father who I called Papa. In my dream he told me, in that deep Welsh voice, that, no matter what difficulties I might be facing in my life right now, not to worry and to just keep doing what I've been doing: writing, recording and performing songs. He and my grandmother love me and everything will turn out just fine. I, indeed, have angels on my side.)

ANGELS ON MY SIDE

(words & music by Grayson Hugh)

Sometimes my sorrow comes falling heavy

falling down like rain on me

and tomorrow is all in darkness

like the fog out on the sea

Now I've been broken, messed up and shaken

I've been taken for a ride

but there's one thing they'll never get to

that's my soul way down inside

Now when it seems that I've hit the bottom

and I just can't find no place to hide

I won't worry, no I won't worry

I've got angels on my side

Late one night in a restless dream

my grandfather - he spoke to me

he said "Just keep doing what you've been doing"

"You'll get to where you want to be"

Now when it seems that I've hit the bottom

and I just can't find no place to hide

I won't worry, no I won't worry

I've got angels on my side

So many pictures my heart has taken

so many faces, so many gone

this house is full of sacred places

that will not fade my whole life long

Now when it seems that I've hit the bottom

and I just can't find no place to hide

I won't worry, no I won't worry

I've got angels on my side

angels, angels on my side

angels, angels on my side

looking over me

I ain't gonna worry, I ain't gonna fear

not while all my angels are here
