I had a great time recording this classic Bobby Womack song for my friend, the late guitar master Jeff Golub. As Jeff had recorded all the guitars for my 1992 MCA album "Road To Freedom", we had already worked closely together and I had always enjoyed his impeccable taste, technique, and dry yet juicy sense of humour! So in 1996, when he called me to come by his home studio in Manhattan and record this tune for his 1997 album "Nightlife", I didn't hesitate. I was at the time living just a few blocks away. It was a hot, humid August day, and I recall the pleasant walk there, humming the song that I had always loved. His guitar-based arrangement has always been a favorite song in my personal music library. Jeff, your guitar continues to smile, and sometimes gently weep.
