GRAYSON HUGH & THE MOON HAWKS Live @ THE SPIRE, 25 1/2 Court Street, Plymouth, MA
The Spire Center for the Performing Arts is thrilled to announce the appearance of internationally acclaimed singer/songwriter and pianist Grayson Hugh's new band GRAYSON HUGH & THE MOON HAWKS on Saturday, March 17, 2018! A former Methodist church, The Spire is a wonderful and unique venue, with very special acoustics. Grayson will be playing it's brand new Yamaha C-7 Concert Grand Piano. Known for his blue-eyed soul hits "Talk It Over", "Bring It All Back", "How Bout Us" and songs in the blockbuster films "Thelma and Louise" and "Fried Green Tomatoes", Hugh's piano playing has been called "a veritable cyclone of soul" and his voice has been compared to Sam Cooke and Otis Redding. His new band features 18 year old Blues guitar phenom Bobby Paltauf (who has performed with Blues legend Buddy Guy at the age of 11), drummer Tyger MacNeal (formerly with The Average White Band, Johnny Winter and Jose Feliciano), soulful bass man Anthony Candullo (who has performed with Yonrico Scott of the Derek Trucks Band, Duke Robillard and Bernie Williams) and singer Polly Messer (former member of the popular swing band Eight To The Bar). Hugh's music has earned praise from music critics and musicians alike in the worlds of Soul, Blues and Roots Rock. “Grayson Hugh & The Moon Hawks put on an overwhelmingly soulful concert featuring Grayson’s fantastic songs, powerhouse piano playing, incredible vocals and amazing harmonies with Polly Messer. The whole band’s musicianship inspired everyone! We absolutely loved this show here and they will be back for more!” - Peter Moshay, Director of Production at Daryl’s House, January 28, 2017 "Grayson Hugh is a great artist!" - Pete Anderson, Grammy-winning guitarist and producer of Dwight Yoakum, Lucinda Williams, Roy Orbison, Jackson Browne, k.d. Lang, May 2017 "A committed soul man for the better part of the past 27 years, Grayson Hugh makes a joyous noise on his latest LP, the aptly dubbed 'Back To The Soul'. The art of procuring pure soul and genuine R&B has seemingly been lost in recent times, given the preponderance of rap and hip hop on the popular music scene. Kudos then to Grayson Hugh for reminding us of not only how it all began, but where it should remain." —Lee Zimmerman. January 5, 2016. Elmore Magazine "What a voice!" - Buddy Guy, acclaimed roots guitarist and producer of Emmy Lou Harris, Shawn Colvin, Richard Thompson and The Carolina Chocolate Drops, March 2015 "Blue-Eyed Soul's Prodigal Son is back - and stronger than ever." - Jack Forchette, Director of Entertainment and Business Development, Infinity Music Hall, Norfolk, CT, May 21, 2012 Don't miss this chance to see this blue-eyed soul legend up close and personal in this great venue with his new band, performing his songs from his acclaimed record “Back To The Soul” as well as his hits from radio and film!
